Questions
Is this an official Montgomery County app?
No. It uses the county’s public incident data but is not affiliated with or endorsed by Montgomery County, PA.
Why isn’t a call I heard on the app?
The county’s public data covers fire, EMS and traffic incidents, and it updates about every five minutes. Some calls are never published, and short ones may finish before the data refreshes.
Why is a pin a little off?
Pins mark the reported intersection, not the exact spot. Faded pins mean only the township or borough could be located.
What do the unit codes mean?
Callsigns like E44-4, CH44 or SD44 follow the county’s own abbreviations: for example E is Engine, CH is Chief and SD is Squad. The county publishes the full list on its WebCAD abbreviations page.
Why do I see an ad?
The free version shows a small banner ad from Google AdMob, which helps pay for the app. A yearly subscription removes it.
How do I remove ads, restore a purchase or cancel?
Open the app’s Settings (the gear icon) to subscribe or restore a previous purchase. To manage or cancel, open your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps ads off until the end of the period you paid for.
Does the app track me or use my location?
There are no accounts. If you allow it, the app uses your location only on your device, to open the map near you; we never receive it. The free version’s ads come from Google AdMob, and iOS asks you before ads can be personalised with your advertising identifier. See the privacy policy for the details.
How do I turn location off, or change where the map opens?
Open the app’s Settings (the gear icon) and switch off “Start near me”; the map then opens on the whole county. To remove the permission entirely, use iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. The location button on the map re-centres on you at any time. Outside Montgomery County the map shows the whole county.
The app says it couldn’t refresh.
Check your connection and pull down on the list to refresh. If the county’s service is down, the app shows the last data it received until the service comes back.
